i now have 2 clowns that are not showing any signs of ICH, but i have a tang and a butterfly that have white spots all over, i am going to buy a 10gallon aquarium a small heater and a small filter. i am going to take 10gallons of water from my main and put it into the 10gal, and put the 2 clowns in there, and i am going to take back the tang and butterfly and trade them for maybe a chromis and an angel. and when i trade them i am planning on putting the new fish in the 10gal with the clowns, and then i will watch the 10 gallon to see if any of the fish show signs of ICH, (becuase the 2 clowns dont show any sings yet). and this will give the main take 30 days without fish to get rid of the ICH cycle, and then after the 30 days is up and everything is OKAY i will put the fish back into the main.

by the way** i started feeding my main tank garlic mixed with there food, i really hope this works.

Do you have a small UV ster. you can put on the 10?
Can you really trade the ICh fish back in? If so I would try to get a credit until I knew the clowns were OK.
I forget how long the life cycle of ich is. Maybe 6 weeks? I will look it up. I would wait that long before putting the clowns back in the main tank. You might have some ich remanants in the main tank. Without a host the ich cant survive from what I understand. As long as a fish is not stressed or sick it usually doesnt catch ich. When I first introduced my tang it got ich, no other fish got it. I never did anything as the cleaner shrimp seemed to be doing its thing. Never had any problems since. (KNOCK on WOOD). My tang would circle the tank and park in front of the CS for a quick wash and then circle the tank again before returning.

Got some PVC to cut for hiding places in the QT?

I don't think that your statement is entirely accurate. Just because you don't see the "white spots" on your other fish doesn't mean they don't have them on their gills or under scales. Do you ever notice your fish opening their mouths real wide, swimming aimlessly, flicking against your rocks or breathing very fast?

Whenever you feed your fish on their normal routine whatever that might be just soak the food in the garlic extract.

True.

Ich will also fall off and give the apearance of being cured but that is part of its life cycle. A new cycle will start and so on. If you can leave the fish out of the main tank for 4-6 weeks there will be no hosts for the parasites to feed. Therefor breaking the cylce.

Hyposalinity (sp.) is also recomended for new fish and infected fish before introduction into the main tank.

Cleaner Shrimp and Cleaner Wrasses are helpful.

I have had no signs (visable) for a year now. No wierd movement or brushing sides against the sand bottom. My Clown did get Pop Eye a few weeks ago but all is well (another issue). The pair of clowns are 5 yrs old, the tang is maybe 2.

You should read this thread. I hope after reading it that you don't recommend these fish anymore. Seems to be a sensitive subject and I don't want to start anything but after reading this thread and a few others on some other boards I have come to the conclusion that these fish are not the answer for the home reef keeper.

cleaner wrasses.....yes or no
