    Kalk/lime mixing container idea...

I was thinking that the glass jugs they make for making "sun tea" would be ideal for mixing kalk (pickling lime) and I was wondering if anyone has tried it, and if so, did it work? I figured it would be a good thing, since you could draw off the liquid an inch or two (however high the little spigot is) off the bottom without having to move the container/jar at all, so no chance of disturbing it, and also no worries about contacting that filmy layer on top of the water. Will it work? Or is it too far fetched? Thanks for any Opinions

Sure it will work, no problems as atll. When I do start dripping kalk in this tank, i will use a plastic pitcher to make the lime water that has a small valve about 1" from the bottom and use it in the same manner you are thinking.

I've posted this picture once or twice. Its a NEW Rubbermaid gas can and an IV dripper. Just drill a 1/8" hole about 1-2" above the bottom. insert the IV dripper and your set. Cost is about 6.00....The gas can is 100% reef safe.

Thanks... but in truth, I can get a sun-tea jug for 2.99, and I already have the IV drip bags, which I didn't have to pay for cuz I volunteer at a local convalescent home sometimes. Plus, the sun-tea container is clear, so I will be able to see easily how much is left. On top of that, too, is the fact that the wide-mouth jar, made of glass, should be much easier to clean off the lime deposits. (And it will be prettier sitting in my living area on the shelf than a gas can too ) I guess in this hobby, the moral is.... If it works, Do It!
