I have had aproblem with a low PH. Alkalinity levels are quite high at 5. This is a saltwater aquarium by the way. I know about the oxegyn/Carbon Dioxide ratio and proper surface water motion. I smoke a little, so I stopped in the house and aired the place out. PH was still low and is still low. The water I used is filtered through a six stage filter and is stripped of everything. I have heard that tap water, that is hard which mine is, has a high PH. Could I start doing water changes with tap water to help bring it up? My PH ranges between 7.9-8.1. I have a really good skimmer so I dont think that tap water would really effect my nitrate and phosphate levels, or would it? Can anyone give me some suggestions on high to raise my PH. Could I run the air hose from my skimmer out through a window to pick up more fresh air?

I would be interested to hear as well what kind of supplements are being used. The use of a 2-part additive of limewater may help out.
