Are sponges a good thing...?
I have a colony of sponges growing about 1/2" a week!! Are these good things or do they end up poluting the water...? Thanks-

they are very good and a good sign!
Dont pull the rock they are attached to out of the water.When they are exposed to air, they're done! cheers, joe |

I have a killer purple encrusting sponge growing on the under edge of a rock. I love it. There are pink button polyps right infront of it. It looks awesome. I will try to post a pic on this tread later for yeah.

I already pulled the rock with the sponge out of the water when I swapped tanks over a month ago, It's grown inches since!

I would be more concerned with then sucking all of the water from the tank.

I hear its a good sign too. However what do you do when the sponge gets to big. This one in my tank is getting huge! Do you just cut them back? Sorry no pix, wife says wait on the nikon 990 til my b-day
just curious on what to do? |

Here is the pic of the sponge I was telling you about. It grows away form the light. It is hard to see since the polyps cover most of it. I think it is very pretty though. SHOG ![]() |

Thanks SHOG, I'm going to try to post a pic of my sponge, I've got them growing everywhere! and fast! Crap!!! It always tells me the file I'm tring to attach is too big, How do I fix this problem?

I have always had to cut out the main part of the pic I want to post and drag it ever to the desktop. Then attach it. Know what I am saying?
