Going out of town.

Guys I will be going out of town for two weeks. My girlfriend will be taking care of my tank while I'm gone. Here is a list of what I have to teach her tonight, what am I forgetting?

For lighting she is to turn them on for 12 hours and off for 12.

Food I am going to show her how much and how often, the use of the turkey baster to spot feed.

I have to show her about the stupid seaclone and how to fix micro bubble problems when they occur.

I have to show her the measurement of the Wages, how to mix, how to drip, and how much each night.

If for some reason a fish dies she is to net it out.

If power goes out, turn uv back on.

Am I forgetting anything? I'm so used to just doing stuff that I'm sure this is going to be overwhelming to her.

IMHO, since you just recently started with the limewater drip, maybe you could just leave that out, cuz if she drips it too fast or doesn't let it sit long enough bad things could happen..... alot worse than if you just left the drip off for that 2 weeks... Your water quality should be fine for 2 weeks without it, and as long as she doesn't overfeed (might even be smarter to have her underfeed a bit) I think it would be safer.

The only thing I can think of that you left out, sort of, would be top-off, which isn't necessary with the limewater drip, but would be needed if you do end up having her leave that out.
I would agree that it might be overwhelming to her, so if you leave out the more difficult and less necessary lime drip, she will be a little less ready to kill you when you get home

You might also want to mention to her that if she moves/removes any salt-creep, to make sure not to let the undissolved crystals land on any of the animals.

Better to little then too much!

Bubbles aren't going to hurt anything, might be best to not overwelm her.

Pretty risky, too much too fast can be disasterous! Might consider just showing how to add top-off water and dose a little calcium.

Good luck!

Good thoughts guys once again I appreciate all your insight, she watches me do these things almost every time that I do them and still has no clue what I'm doing. Sometimes I wonder about her...might be a good discussion for the general column sometime.

Microbubbles getting up in the cracks, crevices and holes in the liverock dont hurt anything? Have heard many things stating the opposite.

No I don't think they hurt anything; sure they are unsightly but should diffuse rather quickly.

When I first got into the hobby I was advised that when adding new live rock to a tank to turn it every which way possible and get all the bubbles out. Was told that if bubbles were left inside it things would rott and the rock wouldnt be able to filter like it should. I had always assumed this was true of micro bubbles put into the tank via powerheads etc. Maybe this information was only for adding new live rock to a system. Of course this information is from the same guy who Ninong and others warned me to stop listening to so...ok
