hermit crabs

i really really like hermit crabs. and i just really dont like snails, i know snails are a lot better but do you think i can get away with just having all hermit crabs, and using a mag-float to clean the glass?

It's not just the glass that the snails clean, but also the rock structure. You can definitely go for a tank without snails and introduce hermit crabs however if you have a nussiance algae problem and need some help from snails and have a tank full of crabs, your going to be in trouble.

I have snails, 14 astrea and 12 nassarius, and one scarlet reef hermit. So far (about 5 months), the scarlet hermit hasn't messed with any of the snails. I would definitley go with snails, no question bout it. I keep waiting for my hermit to wreak havok, (knock on wood thats good). When that happens, hes out like a ground ball in home run derby. But, hes been a good tenant in my tank for the time hes been in there.
