Aragorn,
Yes it is,it started out about 1/4 that size a few years ago. I always threaten to trade it and my 3 huge Bubbletip Anemones off since they take up so much prime real estate but never can when it comes down to pulling them out. Tom

Elmo,
If you're referring to Petpoor's picture, looks like a sailfin tang from where I'm at - Either Zebrasoma desjardini or Z.veliferum (probably the latter). John, That's a great pic - I love the clarity of the photo - great job, hombre. I need to have you come down (long trip ) so that you can make my tank look good! Awesome job, hombre.Randy |

How do you guys put corals so close like that ?? I was told that I shouldn't put corals too close.
Looking at the pics, lots of people have corals that are touching each other and such. I'd love to more corals to my tank but afraid of stinging others. Regards, Ilham ![]() |

Ilham,
They weren't placed that close - they grew that close. You have to stay on top of things as far as pruning is concerned but it's time well spent, IMO.Scott, No argument there, buddy! Randy Last edited by Reef Engineer; 06-03-2001 at 11:17 AM. |

One of the differences between Z. desjardinii and Z. veliferum is that the Desjardin's Tang has a few less soft dorsal and anal fin rays than the Pacific Sailfin Tang. But the easiest way to difference them are the markings on the tail: Z. desjardinii has a dark tail with whitish yellow spots Z. veliferum has a white, yellow and grey banded tail. Joaco |

Elmo18,
Randy and Joaco are right it is a Pacific Sailfin Tang. There have been many trials and errors over my 8 years of reefkeeping as to what and who you may place next to each other. Like Randy said most of it was originally not that close to each other and over time has spread, but unless serious damage is occuring from turf wars I usually let the corals decide among themselves how far someone is going to spread. You know after looking at John's pics I want to throw rocks at my tank.He has some really awesome stuff and pics. Tom
