They won't bother the corals. They will bother the crustaceans and any smaller fish.

I think Reefland (Scott) had one: Went Shopping Again!
Samper has one: http://www.reefland.com/forum/showth...7750#post87750

We did have one and he was very cool but mysteriously disappeared one night. No need to mention the problems we had with our tank back then.
![]() They are very cool fish but as Ninong mentioned, forget keeping any shrimp in the tank and if you plan to have smaller fish, make sure they are established in the aquarium first. Here is the link to a thread that was posted very recently where the thread starters Flamehawk killed his Arrow Crab: Flame Hawk kill Arrow Crab? |

I looked it up on fishbase to see what they show for its natural diet but all it said was unspecified crustaceans. It's scientific name is Neocirrhites armatus if you want to do a google search for more info.

Ventana, welcome to Reefland it's an awesome board. The guys gave you a few links to read but I have a few minutes so I'll post my experience with the flame hawk. I have a 20 gallon nano. Mostly softies. The flame is reef safe in my opinion but he can be a little rough with your corals especially when its feeding time. He has little regard for his tankmates and definately thinks he rules the roost. In my experience it's best to feed them twice a day. I was only feeding once at night and had many more problems with the flame being a bully. Twice a day feedings seem to help the situation out. Maybe with a bigger tank he wouldnt be quite so territorial. They are very hardy, I've had all sorts of problems learning about this hobby and he has so far lived through everything. The personality of the flame hawk is always the talk of the living room when company is over. If you've seen them cruising around then you know why they have the hawk in their name. He has killed a number of my fish, all of them were smaller than him. When I bought him he was about half the size that he is now and the aggressive behavior didnt start until he was about 4 inches long. Keep me posted after you do your research and let me know if you got one or not. I'm curious to know someone with a different setup especially if you find a setup that is harmonious with the flame in it. If you are thinking about snails or shrimp.....dont he hunted my shrimp down over about a month time after he got bigger. When I added snails I added 10 turbo and 10 tulip. All but 1 of each are dead. Hope this helps you out.
