specific gravity meter

hey i was just wondering if i could use the same gravy meter i use for my 30gallon tank for the hospital tank that i used copper in. even if i keep the water in the meter for 30 seconds or so will the copper stick to it? or is it safe to use it?

I don't think that there is enough copper still in the hydrometer to affect much although I'm sure there is some. If you're worried about it you could always dip the water to be tested out with a measuring cup or something and pour it in. You will need to tap it on something to get the micro bubbles off the needle after you pour the water in it. I also wouldnt pour the water back in your system after testing just to be safe.

Just rinse it off before putting it into the copper free tank. Of more importance is the net you use to catch the fish. Be sure you don't dip it into the copper tank and then into the copper free one.
