This is an easy one....pistol shrimp and yellow watchman gobie pair. You could keep the small pair providing you have something like an ecowheel filter something that will fit a picollo skimmer inside it. Cheap and easy and I guarantee you will love the goby/shrimp mate relationship. Provide with plenty of good rock work if you do though and if you do put in a SB then put it in after you put the rocks in as the pair may re-engineer your scape.

I would do something like 1 mushroom and a very small frag or two of zoos and thats it...You might be pushing it w/more than 2 corals. So your corals have got to count. And this would be providing your goby and shrimp approve of them too....cuz if not, guess wat...hehe

as far as the picollo heres a URL that sells them

alright, this is awsome, thanks a lot scubadude, you gave me a lot of ideas, and i have a lot of plans for this little nano. im gunna go with that piccolo skimmer idea for sure. and also when i get the right kind of lighting i will get those few corals u mentioned, and i will most likely go with the pistol and goby idea. this thread really helped me out, well not this little nano if off to cycle for now, so in the meantime i can build a nice canopy for my 30gal cube to hold the hqi i bought for it, and i can also hook up the sump thats just waiting to be touched . anyways thats all for now thanks scubadude!

Hey no problemo :)

Try and get your shrimp gobie already mated if you can, I think Premium aquatics sells them that way....you will love the 2....they will provide endless entertainment.

hey i did some research and i noticed that gobies and pistol shrimp both burrow in the sand, and i have southdown tropical playsand and this sand can very easily make a cloud in the tank, so im not sure this is such a good idea, and my sand bed is only about 2" big.

i read that this pair needs at least a 30gallon aquarium and at least a 2in sandbed to be kept succesfuly. so knowing that, i think i am going to buy this pair for my 30gal cube. are there any other suggestions on fish i could maybe keep in a 5.5gal aquarium??
