new addition.

Whats up fellas? I added my first, low light coral today. Its a small yellow colony polyp rock. I figured I'd give it a shot, and I thought that coral was a more nutrient demanding coral, not really light demanding. I put it in a few hours ago, some of the polyps are extended, some open, but not all the way. Let me know if this is a mistake, I run 3 NO 40w bulbs, 2 10k, 1 actinic. I had to try out something, and I've read that these dont really rely on zooanthelae, more on nutrients. Any feedback would be great. Thanks

I've had a nice colony of yellow polyps for a while now under my coralife 28w 50/50 and they are doing fine. Seem to be very hardy and I enjoy watching them. I'm glad I'm upgrading cause some of my other inverts could use the light. Anyway congratulations and good luck.

Leddy,

The thing to consider is the lack of light will not always show immediately in coral. Coral can appear to be healthy for several months under lighting that does not meet their need and then all of the sudden, when all of the corals stored energy is exhausted, the coral will die.

Now in your case, NO's may be ok for a couple of yellow polyps, just wanted to make sure you understood that the lack of light may not be apparent immediately.
