More current
I am trying to create more current in the tank (the easy way, without adding powerheads).
What do you guys think of "Ocean Currents" gadgets (Rotators, Oscillators)? What do you think of Tunze Turbelle Stream pumps? I want to avoid intakes other than overflow boxes. |

Hi Dive Master,
The oscillating devices obviously do not add more current, but provide sweeping current which is better than stagnent current, as are the use of wave makers that will randomly control pumps in various cycles. As far as adding more current, you are stuck with a couple of options. 1. Closed Loop - Difficult to set-up on an exisiting tank but by far the best option for tank appearance. 2. Additional pump/powerhead - Much easier to add to an exisiting system but not as appealing. I just added a couple of Tunze Stream 6060's to our 75 gallon and am pleased with their output. They are a bit big but since we already have 4 MJ-1200's in there as well, what's a couple of more gadgets. We could definitely get away with just the Tunze but the additional random current from the MJ's on a Wavemaster Pro is most beneficial. |
