Manta Shrimp....What do they look like?

Watching the LR again and saw a tiny white creature which looked like some sort of shrimp because it's lower body curled under. I have seen pics of the fully grown manta shrimp but wonder what a baby one looks like? I am praying that this isn't a manta shrimp. Anyone got pics of the manta shrimp or know of a website I can refer to? Thanks to anyone with help...

BTW, trying to catch the stupid bristle worm with the pantyhose trick but not having any luck yet....

I'm assuming your talking about a mantis shrimp.

You can always do a search on this forum or a google search for them and you will find more information than you can handle.

I hate to point you in another direction but Reef central has a whole section dedicated to the mantis shrimp.

Hope this helps

Thanks Samper....I guess I did mean mantis shrimp...lol Such a newb, I know...But I am learning a lot from this forum. Thanks for the tip! After looking at the posts, I think I do have a mantis shrimp. Should I be overly concerned yet or should I wait until he's big enough to catch?

Catch him, they can be very elusive and hard to get. If you have a chance to get it now, it might just save your aquarium one day. They are known to bust glass and kill fish.

Some people do keep them I might add, some LFS sell them. If you decide you don't wanna risk it or buy what you need to keep him then before killing him you might try to find someone to take it off your hands.

For some reason I can't access the video but I did see the study they did on the discovery channel. I really wouldn't want to get my finger caught in one of those things!
I have his hiding place all scoped out so will try my best to get the little fella!

OMG, I just saw the video....I really didn't need to see that...It was horrible, I definately gotta get rid of the thing. I haven't verified that it is a mantis shrimp though because it is still too small. I guess I will have to wait for it to get a little bigger. I just don't want to catch something that may or may not be what I think it is.

When I got LR the other day I was the first one there so I got to open the boxes and go through it all, in the bottom there was a mantis about that size dead. Neat to look at, dont care to own one.
