My BTA is hidding...I hope it isn't about to croak

My brand new BTA is hiding under a chunk of live rock. When I first put it in the tank it moved all around and then shriveled up. I moved it onto a live rock and it filled back out. then it crawled under the live rock and has sat there all day. It filled up a bit but it doens't seem fully spread out. Does it sound like it is dying?

What should I do?

Thanks

Do you see any obvious lacerations on it? More than likely it is just acclimating to your tank. What kind of lighting do you have? Anemone's prefer higher intensity lights.

I don't see any lacerations on it, but when i bought it a small crab was holding onto it very tight. The store owner pulled it off pretty hard. It still didn't look like it was cut though.

I have two 250 watt MH and four NO flourecent lights. I should have enough light. I thought it might be too much???

It will be fine (the lighting) but it will take the anemone a few days to acclimate to that much of a change in lighting (LFS' never have that bright of light) That is the best thing about the anemones..... They CAN move themselves

If you see the anemone start to dissolve or 'melt', then you'll know it is dying, and you should remove it before it can pollute your tank.

After a day or two, you should try to offer it some food, something soft, meaty.

Oh, and another test for health, it should feel sticky to the touch (the tentacles)

Thanks, that is comforting advise. It started moving again tonight, so I think it is at least okay for now. I think I will cut my light down for a few days also.
