    Talking Bristleworm VS. Turkey Baster!

Well, after many unsucsessful attempts at using the pantyhose trap, I decided to try something different. I used an old turkey baster to blast the worm out of its hiding spot. Once I could see it coming out, I quickly moved the turkey baster, after a quick blast, to where it was blowing out and used the next suction to suck it inside the baster. It worked! Can you believe it! I got the darned thing out. Now my hope is that it didn't already have babies...lol
I know many of you are wondering why I would want to get rid of it but I have to say that after seeing some of the pictures here, I think it would really freak me out seeing something possibly that large in my tank! Plus I get the willies just thinking about it..lol

They are such a beneficial addition to a reef tank though.

And here I am, got all happy to find a couple of bristleworms on my new live rock I hope they live thru the curing, cuz I'd certainly welcome them for my new DSB tank.

You could get bristleworms with live rock from any part of the world. Of course, live rock from Tonga will not contain Hermodice carunculata like live rock from the Caribbean might.

No, they were in some rock I got from another local reefer... And he had a fish only, bare-bottom tank, so I guess they had to live inside the rock.

And these aren't the fireworm type, cuz I tried pulling them off of the rock (gently) to put elsewhere until the tanks done cycling, but they wouldn't let go, they were halfway inside the rock.
