You should thaw the food in a small cup with tank water and then feed it to the tank.

And don't put that tank water back in after you thaw the cube!

UH OH. When I thaw my food, I get a cup of water out of my aquarium, soak the food then just suck everything out of the cup and feed em baster style so I can spot feed some areas.....I don't see another way of thawing and not feeding atleast most of the old water. If you could explain to me why you wouldnt do that I'd appreciate it.

'Cuz the water/liquid they pack that food in is super high in bad stuff... not good for your water... Get yourself a brine-shrimp net, thaw and rinse the food in that, and then put it into a container with your tank water to feed... That way you're not adding the junk, only the food and your own water. (The only exception to this I would say is, cyclo-peeze, cuz ... well, at least the kind I get... it has no fluid other than the little bits of food itself (well, that I can tell... can anyone naysay that for sure?)

Thumbs up

I feed all of the piscine mysis shrimp too, look at the package..it's all shrimp.I steer away from the VHP formula, because of all that gel.I think the prime reef is better.
I also use cyclop-eeze,and sweetwater zooplankton in the jar.All soaked in Zoe.Great stuff!

I've not yet been able to find the mysis in stock in my area, so I've been using gut-loaded live baby brine instead.

On the sweetwater, just in case you're interested, Dr's Foster and Smith's website has it on sale, 1.99/jar, or 1.29/jar if you buy 3 or more... That's a HUGE savings over what the lfs' charge for it! I'm thinkin of stocking up!

Thanks for the heads up on the sweetwater.I work at a small reef shop one day a week.I do get a discount, but it's not that cheap.I wonder if the S+H would offset the savings though?

Well, I guess it would work out better if you bought more than just that, or even just bought alot of it... All I know is they charge $4 to $6 here... and I KNOW the shipping won't come out that high!
