Question lost?

I added a soft coral 2 weeks ago along with a pair of Black Oscellaris Clowns, they were all together at the LFS. A rose bud, she moved about the tank for 2 weeks trying to find a good spot. Yesterday I got home from work and she was no where to be seen, the clowns are doing fine. My tank has been up for 2 months now without any problems. Any ideas? Is this normal? I've looked everywhere, could she have sucked herself into a rock and gone off to die, or just hiding?

Check your pump intakes real good, also do a real thorough search of crevices in your LR. If he got sucked into the pumps you will have to shut them off and gently try to get it out but it might be hopeless anyway. Have the clowns accepted the anemone as a host yet? If so and he is hiding in a rock getting ready to spit his slime or something then the clowns might be hanging around the rock he's in.

Thanks for the info. There isn't any way he could have gotten to the pump intake, I have verified that. She was the host for the Clowns at the FS but she never found a spot to settle in my tank, moved around every couple hours. I'll keep an eye on them to see if they are hanging around a rock or certain area.

Thanks for the info

Rose anemones do tend to wander more than most other anemone types, but will usually eventually settle down. What kind of lighting do you have? You say your tank has been up for 2 months... is that including the cycling time, or 2 months since it cycled? Do you have any other animals in the tank? Check up near the waterline, my roses like to go up to the surface fairly often... Also check underneath any overhanging rocks, as they can/will hide sometimes if they aren't feeling 'up to snuff'. Look carefully because they can deflate themselves and become quite small (I've seen a 6" when open rose bubble-tip become less than 1" when deflated..... and be fine afterwards too!

Good luck finding it!
