    Noob forum user question.

    Hello, greetings all.
I have a question. I have done TONS of research on this and still cannot find a definitive answer.
Will a reef system devoid of all fish for 1 month kill ALL (and I mean ALL) ich
parasites in the tank? From what I understand of ich's life cycle, they should not be able to survive this long at the tempertures listed below.
    Tank conditions.
    55 gal.
    Temp. 77-78 (chiller controlled)
    Water parameters are optimal.

I hear different theories on this subject. Theres the school who say that you can NEVER kill off all ich in a tank once it has been established. My question is if this is true, then do the parasites hybernate or something?
Thanks for your responses in advance.

If the tank has no fish in it and nothing that can be carrying the parasite is added for 6 weeks. all of the parasites will die

There have been many, many studies done on the life cycles of both freshwater ich and marine ich (two different but related parasites) and there is no evidence from these carefully controlled studies that would support that hypothesis.

Here are some links with good information for you to review: White Spot feedback
