Almost Disaster with New Reefland Hood
Well, I got my new hood for my 120g tank the other day. Scott and whoever else that made it did a very nice job. They stained it to match my Oceanic stand, they have a good design. My doors open very wide for easy access, a 2 inch air vent in the back of the hood and two Icecap fans which are silent for cooling.
Overall, very impressed with their craftsmanship and pricing. Now for the story of the hood. I picked the hood up at the local trucking place in downtown St. Louis around 3pm. The box was tied down to a pallet and was huge. The guys at the dock loaded the pallet/box onto my Nissan truck with a forklift. I tied the load down with a couple of bungee cords. I was cooking down Interstate 70 during rush hour traffic, doing about 60mph one lane away from the fast lane. All of a sudden I see my whole package blow up and out of my truck, AARRGHHH!!!!!!! Next thing I see, cars are slamming on their brakes and veering in all different directions, me, well I'm freaking out big time. I get over in the right lane, throw it in reverse and haul A back to the package. The whole highway is stopped in the far left lanes, traffic is steadily coming down through the other two lanes.. I can't even get across to my box. Several cars are stopped, people are out of their cars. I yelled across, LUCKILY, no one is hurt and no collisions were had. My box is banged up significantly. I'm still sitting on the shoulder, realizing the futility of trying to walk to my box, fortunately, a traffic cop on a motorcycle showed up within a couple of minutes. He shuts down the whole highway so I can retrieve my battered box. I tell him that I had it tied down and what it was, he helps me load it into my truck and tie it down securely, we took it off the pallet. I get home and rip into my package with a knife, heart-broken knowing that it is going to be trashed. I unpack the thick cottony material and pull out the VHO bulbs, they are not broken! The hood had a scuffing on the back right corner and that was it. The fans worked, the VHO's worked and the cabinetry was intact. Great packing by Reefland and boy am I happy and LUCKY!!!! Nanook

Well, I am going to move this over to the reef forum for 1 reason.
Since burch dont visit here much, and really doesn't get alot of respect . I figured, since he is the guy we put all the shipping demands on, that we give him a lil thumbs up fo this!Nanook, I for 1 am glad to hear that your hood made the lil trip. When Scott was telling me about it, I had this lump in my stomach...,. I'm sure you know what I am talking about. Rick
