The file your tring to attach is too large...

Every time I try to post a pic it tells me the same thing, Is there some way to fix this (my) problem? Could it be because I'm using a 2.1 mega pixal camera?? The pictures are smaller then the ones being posted.

Question

Firefish,

What file format are the pictures that you are trying to post in? (i.e. *.jpg)

Regards,

Scott Passe

Image size out of Digi Camera...

If you take a pic using "High Quality" on a digital camera, even in JPEG format, it is going to be fairly large (My camera comes out at about 1 MB per picture).

The BB only allows 100K (1/10th of that), so you have to use Photo Editor or something of that nature to shrink the picture in size or quality.

Keep in mind that monitors only display at 72 dots-per-inch, whereas your camera is probably taking pictures at 300+ dots-per-inch, so you have a lot of room to shrink without losing much.

HTH,

Rob

When I send pics via e-mail using MSN, it tells me that the size of the pic is about 420k....My camera allows me to choose between 3 photo quality settings, basic - fine - superfine. Even on basic it says it's too large. I'll try cutting the photos down to thumb-nail size (if I can figure out how to!)....

You could start reducing the file size by reducing image size.

Here is a old proverb for yeah.
IF IT AINT BROKE DONT FIX IT!
seriously if the pic is showing up then i would not worry about it. unless you are the perfectionist type and just wont be happy until it fits in the field?
Good luck,
SHOG

Firefish,

You can edit the pic using an online photo editor. www.myimager.com

Firefish,

The reason we limit images to 100K is because hosting charges for any BBS are influenced by how much space that you are using.

Big graphics really chew up space.

This is why a free web site space like homestead.com makes such sense.

Then of course, Reefland itself is not “burdened” with all of those files.

I will send you a shareware photo editor that I use a lot.

Regards,

Scott

Firefish,

Don’t worry, I didn’t take you post as a criticism. Direct photo posting rather than using the link method is just something that can grow into a monster, real quick, as far as a storage concern.

Regards,

Scott
