Finger Leather coral and Maroon clown fish
I just bought a finger leather coral for my reef tank. It's a 135 gal. tank. This coral is 8-10" tall when fully open. It set off the tank nicely. The problem is my Maroon clown fish will not leave it alone. The coral is about 3" tall all the branches are sunken in back to the base of the coral. The coral has been in this state for about 3 days know. My question is will the coral adjust to the maroon clown fish or do I need to address this problem. If this is a problem what should I do?

What is the clownfish doing to the coral? Has it been closed up since you introduced it into your tank? What I am asking is are you sure the coral is disturbed from actions by the clown or is it acclimating to your tank?

i lost a colt that way.. you need to add a better host for the clown in my opinion..... my clown loves his torch..... the torch seems to like him.... and the rest of my corals are great!

I am sure it is disturbed by the clown. The coral was doing fine before the clown fish started to try to make the coral it's host. The clown has it on its side and keeps trying to nestle in the coral. Should I move the coral or fine the clown a host, or will it work out in a few days? I have a torch coral and a large toadstool coral. Should I move one of those in the place of the figer coral?

You can try moving the new coral, but I'm not sure if that will help. It really depends on if the clown is willing to make another section of the tank her home.

Thanks Reefland I will give it a try. Should I move the torch or the toadstool in that area where the finger coral is at to see if the torch or toadstool will accept the clown fish?
