Question on feeding Gobies?

Hello...I had a banded gobie that just died of an unknown cause. I suspect that he did not have enough food to eat while sifting the sand. I have a 100 gallon reef system with about 75lbs of live rock, a green polyp, 5 snails, 15 crabs and a Turboflotor Multi Skimmer. I have had the system up and running for 2 months now. I didnt add him to the tank until after the first 4 weeks when my LFS said it was ok to add him and some crabs. I recently added some yellow tail damsels to the tank. I suspect now that he died because of lack of food. I dont know if I have enough of the critters he likes to sift the sand for. I have seen a few small amphipods but not many. I guess my question is what is an alternative food source for them? I really love gobies and would like to purchase another one or two but I want to make sure my system is right for them to survive. I plan on buying some coral in the next week or two. Any help would be appreciated

How long was he in your tank? though gobies are prone to starvation, it doesn't sound like you had him long enough to starve to death. Check your water chemistry and if everything is o.k., I would say you probably got one that was already sick or just didn't acclimate to your tank.

I have had a Orange spotted sleeper goby for about 8 months now, he eats Mysis and Brine shrimp. What did you feed yours? You did feed him right???? a few amphipods are not going to sustain a goby.
