AHACK I got the worms! Help!

I noticed last night that my tank has a flatworm infestation. They are all over the live rock and sand and glass. I only have soft corals (rics, zoos, shrooms, gsp, toadstools, leather), and they all look fine. What do these worms eat? I tried siphoning them off the rocks but they stick to them.. I really don’t want to use meds.

I got a banded coral shrimp, camel shrimp and marine betta who appear to be eating stuff off the rocks, I cant tell if they are or not. Does anyone know and compatible creatures that would eat these worms? I have heard siz-lines do, but I think my dwarf lion or indigo hamlet would eat it. Is there anything else?

Flat-Worm Exit is an option for you, I have read mixed results. For a natural predator, Wrasses are you choice, but again I've heard mixed results with them too.

Will they ever just go away?? Possibly eat off all their food and die?

My tank is already stocked more than I like, dwarf fuzzy lion, marine betta, Grass Fugu Puffer (takifugu niphobles), and an indigo hamlet, coral banded shrimp also... I dont know what to do, I added a 4th powerhead (mj1200 on a wavemaster pro) blowing across the front to hopefully blow the little worms off the glass.

I really dont want to use a medication, and I am not going to usnless I start loseing corals and what not...

Unfortunately the typical path is just the opposite; the popul;ation continues to increase! There is no easy fix for the problem either and although I commend you for wanting to stay away from the miracle cures, you should probably take some kind of action sooner than later.

I read some good reviews on that Flat worm exit, BUT make sure you follow the directions EXACTLY! Have plenty of Saltwater ready to do water changes after you use the treatment. Also I hear the Skimmer will go Banana's after the treatment too!

Has anyone read, "Reef Invertebrates" by Anthony Calfo and Robert Fenner?

They say that "Patience is a Virtue with Acoel Flatworm Infestations", yet I read on-line that they will definatly smother and kill every sesile thing in your tank, I have yet to see them in numbers on any of my corals...

Has anyone had any sucesse with a fish that wont be eaten by my other fish which also eats flatworms(or anything..)???

flatworms

We developed flatworms (probably from a purchased coral). We sucked them out for over a year, then got the blue velvet slug (only known creature known to eat them) Somehow, it died and killed several things in my tank.......anyway, we ended up using Flatworm exit....follow directions exactly....and it worked great for us. My soft and lps are fine. They looked stressed for a few hours, but came out looking better. Take care of the flat worms sooner than later!!!

Good Luck!
