Potters Angel Ich??
Hi All,
I introduced my new Potters Angel Saturday and he/she has been rather sheepish! I have noticed tonight one or two very fine white spots on its tale fin. It was acclimatised over 2hours using the drip method and was given a fresh water dip. I don’t have a QT tank and am very weary of adding products into my main tank. I should also mention that I have been buffering DKH to raise my PH which tonight is 8.2. Stats as follows: Salinity 1.025, AK 9.6, Calc 400, P.H 8.2, Temp 27'c, nil ammonia or nitrite tank is 40 gallon, aqua medic P/S, three power heads. Any advice would be gratefully received. Thanks in advance. |

If you don't have a q tank......hmmm
do you have any corals at all? If it is a FO tank then you can try the hyposalinity method. To do this you will slowly lower the SG of you tank to 1.009 and keep it there for 2-3 weeks then gradually raise it back up to nsw levels. If you have LR or a DSB, snails, hermits or inverts then this method is not recommended. You can also try soaking your food in minced garlic. Many people swear by it and some of the more expensive fish foods contain it so hey why not. Walmart also sells cheap aquariums that would do the trick for a treatment tank. Just remember if you do go that route and treat with Cu you can never use that tank for anything else other than a hospital tank.

If the fish isn't behaving poorly yet, I would not consider treating the fish with anything more than enriched food and maybe some garlic; give it a couple of days to see how it goes.

Potters Angel Ich?
Thanks for the advice, I supplement all feeds with extreme garlic however this little guy has not fed yet so I presume any parasitic disease he may have must has arisen through stress or he already had but had showed no signs. Is there an Ich additive as I am running a reef system?
Thanks |

Continue adding garlic extract to the food and try to get it to begin feeding. Have you tried one of the flake foods designed specifically for Centropyge spp. angelfish? Also, try frozen mysis shrimp. Unless you are seeing a lot more white spots, chances are that it doesn't really have ich. Good luck, ![]()
