I would place it horizontally. It would be best to lay it flat on the back side of the coral for quicker attachment.
Received a 2" frag of Orange Montipora Cap. How do I mount it? Vertically or horizontally? I was thinking vertically, but want to make sure before I do it.
Thanks.

I've had great luck with mounting them like in a spot in the rock where you can wedge a side into. If this frag has a side where it was fragged then that would be the perfect side. I wedge it into my rock and it encrusts the rock and starts growing in cool whorls.
If I couldn't mount the frag like that then I simply lay it down with some super glue on the back and let it grow like Scott said.

Is it normaly for the edges where it touches the glue (actually the putty stick stuff) to turn a little white or should I be really concerned?Originally Posted by SueT
So you used the epoxy instead of super glue to mount this frag???
I hate that epoxy stuff as it is just easier for me to glue my frags down. I'm sure with the epoxy the tissue that is covered with the epoxy will die back, if the aquarium conditions are good the frag will certainly grow out over the epoxy in time.

When you say super glue are you meaning just regular cheap Super Glue? If so, I didn't know you could use that....wish I would have known. It has to stick better than those stupid putty sitcks.
Sure, but it does have to be super glue "gel". I use that stuff exclusively.
Loc-Tite is the brand I like the best too.
