WOooHooo!!! now you will really have fun playing in adobe!! I really think you made a wise purchase, now you can combine 2 hobbies that I think you enjoy! I'll e-mail you some actions for PS that will come in handy. I'll also throw a lens recomendation for you, 28-135 IS lens. Works FANTASTIC as a "walk around" lens, comes out to a 45-216mm on our camera's! Add an extension tube and it will really drop the minimum focus down considerably. ( that is my next camera purchase I think...)

Also Adorama has 1 gig CF cards on sale for $59.95 after a mail in rebate! That card holds 409 images at 100 ISO, so you can shoot almost all day long!

Thank you, Mike! And thank you for all the tips you had send me, it'll take some time for me to get to know all of that...I think I may be looking for a new place to live next becouse now my wife will have two things to hate

BTW, I just picked up a Vivitar 100mm macro lens, cheap but I need something to practice with before I graduate to Canon 105mm macro.

Thanks Gene! I had to learn all that from scratch and it took forever!! I figure if I can save you some time on the learning curve, we will both be better off!!!

I really like the look of the large matte, thin Frame actions in there... Also you can change the matte and frame colors by using the boxes to the left, the top is matte the bottom frame colors...

Have you tried the "enhance" yet? I put that together, it does Auto Contrast, Saturation +8, and a little Unsharp Mask to sharpen things up a bit..

Very nice!

Mike, that's not a frag but a small to medium size colony. Maybe A.nobilis or formosa.
Good luck with new additions, Scott.

Yeah this guy is huge! I haven't looked to try and match for a scientific name yet. I would say this colony is slightly larger than a grapefruit! It is a very nice teal green which I hope to be able to capture when I take some top down pictures tomorrow. I wish you were around Gene to take some with that new camera!

Great looking clam! I will venture a guess that your nice stag is A. formosa. One of the tests is that the corallites crush easily when you pinch near the tip.
Here is my A. formosa

Regards,
Kevin

Here is another A. formosa. This one is a Walt Smith Fiji aquacultured colony. I have it in a super high flow area which resulted in a more compact growth form. It's on one of those cement posts I thought it was a pain at first but now I like it because I slid it between a couple of large rocks and can remove it easily to cut frags

Regards,
Kevin

Beautiful pieces,Kevin.

Scott, I think you can do pretty good job with your cam as well. I can always send you my Coolpix for some shots and you can send it back after

I've got a shot of my A.nobilis doing some funky growth on one of the branches

Took another practice shot, I think it will take another year for me to learn how to take pictures with this camera.

Off to a great start Gene...

Looks like that Vivitar macro is a pretty decent lens too...

Don't be afraid to crank up the ISO either... One of those actions I sent you will take out noise... ISOx

Thanks,Mike.

This particular shot were taken with the kit lens- supposed to get that Vivitar lens this coming week. I really haven't been able to take many shots as yet, just not enough free time. And of course, I certainly would like to check out higher ISO settings and see what works best and most of all read that manual
Haven't checked that noise reduction yet as the pics came out pretty clean but I am sure as I increase ISO it will be needed.

Here is another picture of our new stag, but from the top. This picture captures a little bit of the teal green this coral actually displays. Also is a top down view of our clams.
