I didn't really buy a battery, it came with the accessory bag, plus the UV filter for the lens. Neat little bag made specially for the "rebel". I also bought a battery for my Nikon as mine were wearing out and not keeping the charge all that well. I still like that cam for a quick pic taking. ![]() Enjoy the frags, hope they'll do good for you. ![]()

I knew you would get Hooked! Wait till spring when you can use that macro on some flower petals and Stamins! Isn't the color awesome, and the battery lasts and lasts and lasts.... CMOS sensors ROCK!!!
Now here is a nit-pic, you can actually see minor scratches in the glass, so I used the "healing brush" and took them out for you... Outrageous shots Gene, I may have created a monster eh? |

Thanks,Mike! I need to pay more attention to detail, I know
The camera is really very nice, I probably will end up getting couple more lenses for it by spring so yes, it will come in very handy for my other hobby, the flowers You know, I ws looking at that macro picture of the tort and I swear I can see red bugs on it but I fed cyclop-eeze right before I took the shots so I'm confused. I took another pic today and did not see anything on it so I'll have to wait and take some more pics to see if I'm right or not. I hope I am.

Hard to tell with web resolution picture, but I do see a couple of orange/red spots too. I think you are right though, probably just food... Take a peak at the full res picture, you should be able to zoom in up to about 200% before you lose all the detail...

However, as angry as I am, the coral in question is growing and so far I see no damage done to it by those buggers. Now I have a dillema, do I dip just this one coral or treat the whole tank? I hate even thinking about this as I do not see them on anything else and it must of came with the frag Here's some shots that proves it,I think. ![]() and another one and here's another macro shot, cropped of course and resized

As you probably know, Eric has been doing research on these parasitic copepods: http://reefkeeping.com/issues/2004-0...6/eb/index.htm There are several threads on RC on this topic. You might check them out to see what others have concluded.

Thanks,George. Yes, I have read this and the threads on RC as well. Some people treat their entire tanks but I really don't want to do this. I'll email Dustin or Joe Burger and ask them what their experiences were if just a single coral were affected. I know Joe treated his whole tank without any damage to the system but with my dsb in place I don't know what effect will be on all the other bugs.

Bummer Gene! Guess that Macro lens really came in handy! I'll have to read up on those threads too, never dealt with those little guys yet!

As far as that macro lens goes, I hate it now... I've been taking some more shots and I'm starting to believe that f2.8 macro lens is much more superior to the one I have but for the price I suppose I shouldn't complain. This is some new shots I took last night. Couple of them came out not too bad but most are not that great either. Thank god this is digital and I can delete them later without wasting resources. PS. Forgot to add that I decided not to do anything at the moment and just watch the coral and see how it does. I can always treat my tank later if I see some negative effects taking place. I don't believe that it does at the moment.

Man.. I don't know Gene, those look AWESOME to me, especially the first one!
Yes a 2.8 lens would be able to gather more light, it also reduces the depth of field. AND it will be WAY HEAVIER! I think this one is doing very well for you! |

Zhenya.......I think you should just scrap that tank. You should send it to me along with your camera and start a new one. Just trying to find a happy medium for us.

WOW he is a cool little fella!! Looks like you found the "blur" tool too! Very cool! I have sold some of my High School sports pictures to parents the last couple weekends, I almost have enough extra cash to pick up either the 500D or a set of extension tubes... So I will be able to get some macro shots soon I think! Yay!!!

Forgot to add that I'll be on the look out for a nice pistol shrimp now, I hope my LFS can get me one.

LOL!!! Is that Anthelia next to your Anemone??? That stuff GROWS and GRows!!! It took me FOREVER to get rid of all that stuff!
Cool shots, the snail looks pretty big too! I ordered a 500D today, so it should be here wednesday or thursday, so I'll be able to post some cool ones I think! I am going to put it on my 70-200 2.8, it reduces minimum focus to 19 inches I think... Right now minimum focus is like 4 ft! |
