What type of lighting are you using? If you have enough light then feeding really isn't that important. The only food mine gets is a little e.s.v. freeze dried phytoplankton that I put into the water.

Mine seems to be pretty happy.

Brains do need to be fed... Mine eats mysis shrimp, Formula one, and other meaty foods. I am sure your halide will be fine for lighting, I would keep it on the bottom to make sure it can get accustomed to your lights, what kind of light was it under at the LFS? You may need to provide it some shade for a while so it doesn't go into shock...

I target fed mine brine shrimp and silversides when I first got it. I haven't target fed it for around six months now and it still looks great. I feed my tank brine shrimp and phytoplankton every other day. I guess it just gets enough of the food through the water.

Unfortunately I didn't have the option of putting mine on the sand bed. I got two of them as hitchikers on my tbs rock. I have given one of them away already, I'll probably be giving this one away in the future as well. I believe that when I get my second tunze I will have too much flow for the brain.

cool, the guy at the lfs, told me to spot feed it by just putting a little peice of prime reef in the middle of it(i feed prime reef to my fish). any ideas what i should do with this marinesnow, and phytoplan? it was pretty expensive so should i consider returning it?

Why would you want to return it? It should be fine in your tank.

The way I use the phyto is I just mix it in with brine shrimp and tank water. I then just use a turkey baster and kind of spread it around the tank.

Looks Good Reefer... I would return the "marine Snow" there was an analysis done on that product some time ago and it came out to 98.7% WATER!!! If you want a good food for your fish and Corals, get Cyclop-Eeze. I mix that in with my Spectrum pellets, Squid, Mysis, and Clam. It REALLY is a good food for fish and corals alike!

okay cool, thanks for the information, im def gunna return this marinesnow, its cost $15!!. i used the phytoplan today, and i came up with this routine feeding schedule. i feed a prime reef(for the fish) cube every other day, and the day in between i feed the phytoplan(for the corals, inverts and such), so one day i feed phytoplan, and the next day i feed a cube of prime reefand i think on the day i feed the phytoplan i will spot feed my brain a little peice of prime reef at night.

Sounds like a good plan Reefer.

I'm sorry, I misread above. I thought you were asking if you should return the brain. I would definately return the marine snow.
