    Do you remember your first?

I was thinking about it the other day while looking at someone's pictures.....

Do you remember your first CORAL? Some of the tanks on here are so amazing and I can't even guess how long some of the corals have been kept.

    To answer my own question...

Our first coral was actually 2 different ones. We started with a Colt and a toadstool Leather. The Colt melted on us when we changed a couple of overflow sponges. Must have had something on them that was bad for the water (even after rinsing them well) The leather is still a centerpiece in our 55 gal for over 2 years.
Give a man a fish, he'll eat for a day.
Teach a man to fish, he'll put it in his aquarium!

    Thanks, Dennis and Andrea

My first was a Hammer Coral, it had 2 heads. I still have it today, I have broken it in half and gotten rid of 1/2 of the original coral. At last count the half that I still have had 19 heads!

    my first coral

This is my first coral, I just got it a few weeks ago and it seems to be doing great, comming out more & more every day. I was told it's a fox coral, I don't know the scientific name, it's kind of hard to make out in the picture, but the fleshy parts are a purplish colour, and it has a neon green pigmintation, really cool looking. Sorry about the sucky picture quality, but I'm still using a webcam to take the pictures.

First coral was a frogspawn that I unfortunately didn't know how to take care of at the time. Here is my second.

My first coral was a rock with 2 frilly brown mushrooms and a plant on it back in 1986. The LFS just called it live rock. None of the LFS or hobbyists I hung around knew the names back then . There weren't any hobbyists books available that described corals.

The attached picture is of my first Acropora (yongei) that I purchased 3/22/98. The picture was taken late 1998.

    Regards,
    Kevin
