I have borrowed a camera and am trying to learn to use it. I also know some of you wonder what my nano looks like so throughout the night I'll be posting pics and I hope you guys enjoy them as much as I do.

The camera is a Fujifilm finepix f601z and I'm having a hard time taking macro shots and full tank shots without blur.

Are you using a tripod? If you don't have one, try resting your camera on the back of the chair or something for full tank shots. What ISO setting did you use when shooting in macro mode? Your pics are not bad at all but I think you need to steady your hands and they 'll come out even better. The colors seems to be OK but I can't see your corals in real life so I can't say for sure.Originally Posted by Samper
The anemone question I wanted to ask is if your it is really that color(it looked a tad bleached to my eye).
PS. Forgot to add a link for you to read about the camera you have, it might help you understand and use it better.

The anemone is the exact color that the photo shows atleast on my computer. I've kept him for about 4 or 5 months now with no noticable color change. He needs to be under a halide but I just can't afford one right now with the holidays coming up. If I could find a nice 250w 20k de pendant I might be able to come up with the money but the euro reef I just bought put a hurting on me financially. When I get out of the military I'll be ok but for now it's a struggle putting this larger system together.
I'm not using a tripod but I'll take your advice and steady it on something to take a few more. I don't have a clue about taking pictures or cameras all I did was turn the macro setting on and change the size from 6m to 3m.

In macro mode, try to get as close to the subject as your camera allows to stay in focus,in your case I think the minimal distance is 20cm. Try shooting with "Normal AF" and get as close as you can tot he subject without doing any zooming( digital that is). Your camera has 3x optical zoom and you should be OK if you stay with just using that. Mainly I think that your pics lack some focusing and that is becouse of camera shake.

Nice tank Samper! I also have a fugi finepix 2650. It is a MUST to use a tripod or some form of stability. Cant do with out it in macro mode and full tank shots would be alot better but your pics look nice anyway.
Well I'm happy for now with my little tank. Corraline is taking over the glass and frame work for my LR. Feathers are multiplying and other than the anemone needing more light and the flame hawk needing more room I'd venture to say that this system is a success thanks to this website. I sure as heck couldn't have done it without you guys.

Cool Pics Samper! I think Gene is right about the Anemone though, he looks a little "pail" to me... Cool tank, good work!
Ok....if any of you guys have a used halide I'd take it off your hands.
