We just set up our K2R Calcium reactor and are having some problems. K2R recommends the Eheim 1046 pump to go with that but it only puts out 75gph. We set everything up as the directions showed and once we let out the 10psi as directed, the air started backing its way out of the pump. Which in turn leads me to believe that this is not the pump for the application. We do have a Rio 2100 that outputs 692gph but im not sure if that would be too much or not. Any suggestions/experiences that you guys/gals might have??

As mentioned, I have never set up a calcium reactor however I do know that a low flow feed pump is recommended for them. Did you fill up the reactor chamber with tank water?
Here is a link to the My Reef Creations reactor set-up; I know yours is different but maybe you can find something useful while reading it: http://www.myreefcreations.com/instr...lc%20Setup.pdf |

yes we did fill it up with tank water. Could the length (6') of hose be the possible culprit? Too much for the pump to push? It's only pumping 18" verticaly, but about 6' laterally. Kinda lost right now.

That could be a problem. You might give a MJ 1200 a try with about 200gph.

Are you using the eheim to feed the reactor as well as to circulate? I'd use a MJ1200 to feed water to the reactor, this should help keep a steady effluent drip going, use the Eheim to circulate...

The reactor is up and running. Woohoo! We are running two eheims. We adjusted the needle valve and everything was ok. We had it wide open.
hehe As of 9:14 a.m. the ph is @ 7.88. I am sure we will have to continue adjusting until it is right. The most important thing is it is now working!! I feel like it is starting to come together now. Andrea
