rock scaping

I have noticed on some photo's that the rockwork comes right down to the front glass completely covering the sand bed. and looks reay great. I am thinking of doing the same. is there a down side to this ???, I am thinking about detrious settling between cracks.advice most gratefuly accepted.

only thing that comes to mind is NOT being able to scrape the glass down to the sand bed... Would be a great place for Coralline to start growing and no way to scrape it off...

yep........ i have a 50 gallon tank and my rock is placed side to side on the glass.. i wish i had a bigger tank so that i had more room on the sides....
i barely have enough room on the front... and i like corals up front on the sand bed...

I think everyone has their own way of doing things. There is an up and down side to anyway that you do it. Here is how we did our rock. We like lots of caves. Although, we did not bring the rock all the way to the front and the sides of the glass. This allows us to clean with the magnet without having rock in the way. This is not the best picture. I just took it and our halides have not come on yet, but you can get the idea...
