Question Hot pink coral - what is it?

Hot pink Soft Coral - what is it?

Ok Guys, lets play what soft coral is that.....

It looks a little bit like a contorted Sinularia flexibilis or stylaster spp.- more compacted though - or maybe a finger leather - LOTS of fine fingers and really contorted together. Plus its hot pink - almost fluorescent like a Dendrophyte. This speciments about 8 inch across and the same in height and a very compact oval in shape. I am in Thailand, and getting reliable info outa these aquarists (I use that term loosely) is near impossible. Anyone know it. Its a new one to me..

If you do know it, is it easy to keep and does it have any special requirements with food or lighting.

Sorry for the mis-post in another threads guys.. My blunder.. what a night.

Not that your gonna get an accurate guess from the info you provided but my first guess would be a dendronepthea which are very hard to keep in captivity.

Nope.. most certainly not a dendronepthea.. Looks nothing like it. Just the colour. Its looks more like Sinularia flexibilis or a stylaster spp. I know its vague.. but hey I am no coral expert... its the best I can give with my limited knowlege... Thanks for the help but..

If it's hot pink, and not a Dendronepthea spp. then I would guess that it's probably dyed; not that it helps with the identification or anything, just thought you might like to know that.

    Yup -it'd definitely dyed

Thanks for the reply. I really appreciate the help.

It's definitely dyed. I just got an email from Anthony Calfo too that confirms what you have said. The attached pic shows exactly what it's like colourwise.. The coral I have seen is a little more compact though... It's a shame that people do this to corals.
