water test, 1st in about 3 yrs.........

well heck, after all my moving, and getting settled, i finally ran across my salifert test kits....???

Do they have a shelf life if unused ???

    Anyhow,,,,

Calcium.. around the 450-500 mark..... im never too sure on those damn tests.. but pretty close to that area...
Phosphate... might not be to bad its a .2

    Ammonia.... ZERO baby!!
    Nitrite... ZERO.........
And i didnt have a nitrate kit. but from my corals and lack of deaths in the last few years, i will assume its prety low!!!!!

    Kinda happy bout now...

ps, i use straight tap water... for the past 6-8 months...
and well water the year and a half before that...

the tank has been moved 4 times with over 200 pounds of sand in the tank, which was never removed to move it....
So i guess i am doing something right with my deep sand bed, it has been set up ove 3 years now.....

But my 75 gallon tank is supposed to be here today.....

So it will have to be replaced i am afraid..

Do you know if it's drilled or not? I guess it don't matter because you've already got the external overflow on your current tank.

Awesome SaltJunkie, i use tap water and get flamed all the time from the experts that test test and buy 300$ rodi units LOL. and they are so anal that if they hold a penny that day they are so afraid of copper they will not put their hand in the tank LOL. I say go what works. the BEST test of your tank water is howq does you tank LOOK and how well are your animals doing? thats the Key if my tank has ONE aqua clear 300 filter with skimmer attachment, and thats all for circlation. I use tap water and IO salt and my tank Jams!! ofcourse the "experts will say My **** will crash sooner or later LOL yeah i guess maybe ten or 20 years ALL tanks will crash LOL> go for what you know and go with what works not what is quoted by "experts".
One can easily judge the character of others by how they treat those that can do nothing for them or to them.

see thats what im saying.. but those guys are afraid of the pennies and stuff, cause they always have them dang hands in the tank.. i do not put my hand in, unless i absolutly have to... not even to rearrange.. if its working.. it stays.... i have never owned an ro/di.. so truely i wouldnt know the difference,,,,

i hear about the tank crash stuff all the time too.. but this tank i have had set up for about 3 years.. and everything in it has come from tanks dating back to atleast 6 years ago.......

So, i am okk..... i guess i got about another 3 years before i test again! lol...

Scott.... got the call today, he is supposed to be calling me later and delivering the tank...

Now that i have a garage, i can figure out all my pilumbing... doing it right... all my water flow and light needs.. buy everything i need slowly.. while it rests comfortably in the garage...

i am just not sure how what or why i want a sump fuge... combo.. the 50.. or and arcrylic sump fuge combo with built in skimmer... etc..
i would like to try and build a skimmer and sump.. i think that will be my best bet, seeing as i know how to work with the stuff....

build me a 45x20 sump with everything i need in it... whattaya think?
