I got my rock into my tank Sunday. Looked pretty good yesterday.
Today at about 3 PM, as if somebody threw a switch, lots of critters started crawling/falling out of the rock, apparently dying. Most are millipede-like, pink and 3-8 mm long. Some are what appear to be pin worms. temp= 78 F pH= 8.4 Salinity=1.023 nitrites=0 nitrates=trace Am I in trouble? |

They sound like bristleworms and they are good for your sandbed. Hopefully some of them will survive and breed in your tank. I'm assuming the rock was not cured? Anyway there shouldn't be a problem. Most of the critters will be beneficial to the biodiversity of your tank.
Keep an eye on ammonia and nitrites to see if you start cycling again. If no trace you are in good shape. good luck.

Thanks, guys.
And, yeah, got the Wet Pets rock. Man, it's got som cool stuff on it, mussels, clams, etc. I was just hoping what's happening is normal. I also have little patches of greyish that I assume is dying sponge. |
