Capret Anemone

I just put a carpet anemone in my tank and it totally closed up and turned into a ball. I wanted to know if anyone knows why it woud do this.

Could be any number of things, a little background into your system would help. You may have it posted somewhere but I'm cooking out right now and can't check.

Please give us all your water parameters as well as the age of the tank. While I do believe you can have 3 fish in a 20 gallon if you do it right I don't believe you should keep a tang in one. That being said I've never owned a tang but from the reading here that I've done they need 55 gallons at least.

Reefvette,

Sadly a 20-gal tank is not large enough to house any of the carpet anemones. These animals require much larger tanks than that. It isn't large enough to house your Sebae Anemone (Heteractis crispa) either.

And it's too small for a yellow tang, too!

P.S. -- This picture is not the best in the world, but it will give you an idea of the size of a carpet anemone. The large one in the center is at least 30" across: http://www.reefland.com/forum/attach...tachmentid=250
