80.4 four days straight.

I use this timer located in the link below for my halide and fan.

I have a cheap fan made by Lakewood blowing toward the Halide and water surface. I have the timer set to start up the fan when the halide fires up.

For temp I use this found at Wal Mart for 15 bucks.

And my heater is I don't even know what but it's glass and made in Italy.

I have finally found a balance between everything. My systems water has stayed at a constant 80.4 for the past four days and I'm pretty happy with that considering how I pieced it together.

80.4 Thats a good area to be in! I hope you keep that kind of stability in the heat of the summer too.

By summer time I should be back home and I'll have it down in the basement.

YIKES!!! That big of fan is why your Evap rate doubled!!! I know evap has a cooling effect on the water, but I wonder if you could get away with a say 6" fan instead... That might bring you back to 2 liters a day of make up water!

I tried with a few smaller fans and the water was overheating still. I took 3 cheaper ones back until I got this one, It's aimed straight at my fixture and only a small amount hits the surface. I don't mind but if I ever do another nano after this one gets moved over I won't have quite so strong of a light over it for sure.

Cool, sounds like you made every effort. I imagine that fan is quite loud, but as long as it is only on with the halide it won't affect sleep... LOL

Yeah, my tv volume has to go up a few notches but that's just another small price to pay.
