Question Hawaiian Fether Duster Display Positioning?

I just purchased a Hawaiian Feather Dusters and like to know the best way to display for the animal and myself. I’ve read that it should be buried with 1 cm of tube above sand. Right now I have it positioned at about a 45-degree angle between some LR and on surface of sand. It’s facing to front of tank giving a nice view of feather.

Using DT's Live Marine Phytoplankton for feeding.

Hi JST and welcome to Reefland
Ya know im sure the way you posted is correct way to position the feather, however I have seen them attached to pieces of LR in the wild while I was diving and It wouldnt surprise me if they can do so in our tanks as well. I personally wouldnt move it if you like its location right now and it seems fairly secure....do you have any pics you can post of it?

I keep one Hawaiian Feather duster and I keep it around the sandbed/rock interface. Almost exactly as you have it. I've had it for about 3 years and I do not feed any DT's or such. Every year though, it seems that mine will lose its whole crown of feathers, and then grow out a new one.

An area of slow flow where the feathers move sounds good.

Thanks for the info.

If you go to DT's website www.dtplanton.com they have great information on Feather Duster. From what I've read if they loose their feathers they are starving.
