Anthelia need iodine ?

Hi all,


My question is does Anthelia need iodine suppliments to flourish?

I have Xenia amongst many other corals that are doing well but the Anthelia is not. It is located midway down the120 gallon tank under ~500 watts of MH and PC.

Any thoughts?

I was under the impression that most corals need iodine to thrive. I add it once per week. Not sure about the specific requirements of anthelia though. It's probably very similiar to Xenia, but since your Xenia is doing well it's a bit of a mystery. Is the anthelia in very low or high current? Maybe something is nipping at it in the middle of the night?

I have anthelia polyps in my tank under 175 W metal halide with two 96W power compacts. They are doing very well and multiplying quickly. The only thing I would recommend is to keep them in a low flow area, and make sure they are not getting to much light. I use Iodine once a week.
