I have a 75 gal. tank. Is Kalkwasser drip enough for maintaining calcium,KH,PH, my tank in 2 month old. The person at the lfs thought i was crazy to use Kalkwasser drip. There is great advice at reefland. I feel safer asking for help. It gets fustrating when 10 people at lfs give you 10 different methods. At least they test your water for free!!! They have no alkalinty test, everything else. your help would be great. ps my kh and calcium. 13 & 500 yesterday. lfs people told me to use tec a&b 1 cap full each. plus i was using 3 tsp in 2 gallons of (r.o./d.i.) water, today the lfs said to use one or the other. any help would be great!!!! thanks, Kelly

Hi Kelly
![]() If your 75g is mostly SPS then you might want to use both, however if you dont have alot of SPS then you very well may be able to get away with just Kalkwasser. If your levels are at what you said 13 & 500. Then you are right where you need to be. Kalkwasser is VERY stable if used correctly and also keeps your PH more stable. Kalkwasser will maintain your levels however they will NOT increase them so a 2part additive will help you to increase them and get them where they need to be. Then if you started using the kalkwasser ONLY and your levels stay maintained for say 2+ weeks then chances are you only need kalkwasser....however if your CA and ALK levels drop after that point then you would need to either do 2part as well as kalk or do kalk and possibly a Calcium Reactor. Tech A & B is a good product but you also may want to check into Oceans Blend, it is a bit cheaper and they are a sponsor here on reefland. I have had great success with them. Hope this helps

Hi Kelly!
I just use Kalkwasser myself, actually it is Mrs Wages pickling lime from the grocery store. At 1.79 per 32 ounces, it is WAY cheaper then the Kent at 20 per 20 ounces! |

2 tsp per gallon is a good mix, you always siphon the clean liquid off the top. Never use the cloudy gunk that settles out. I use limewater for all my top off.
