You gonna try and get that big bad worm out of your tank? That sux that it went after the snail. Sweet pics, as usual. Didja get the Cam box yet?
Well, like the title says, post some of your night time pix if you got them.
I took some last night with assistance of the moonlight. Spotted pretty large worm feasting on remains of a large Mexican Turbo snail. It got itself stuck between two tears of my green Acropora millepora colony and probably died. I haven't seen it in a while before then. The worm in the picture is about 14" long that I could estimate from what I seen of it(abviously stretched to reach where he was), there was also smaller in size but similar looking worms partaking in the diiner time. :eek3:
And this is what this worms were after...I wish I had seen this snail, I would've rescued it from this predicament before it died.
and this last shots shows how unrecognizeable corals become at night, I mean with all the polyps and all
and here is another large worm at the foot of my Heteractis crispa anemone, stretching to scavenge for something.

I think what happened was that snail got stuck in the branches with its huge shell and died. The worms just cleaned up the carcass.
Marc got delayed with shipping of my box so I am hoping it will be here this week.

Usually I'm complaining that the pictures are too small but that's not the case here.
Interesting that you should post some bristleworm pics because I was checking my tank late last night and found several good sized bristleworms out and about. I used my new little red astronomy flashlight. It's not as good for this as a different type red astronomy flashlight that I used to have years ago, but it works. I was pleasantly surprised because I though my orchid dottyback had eaten most of the really big ones. I'm sure he ate quite and few and scared all the others into staying hidden during the daytime. Some of them used to venture out onto the sand bed during the day whenever food hit the sand bed but they don't do that anymore.
Did you see my question to Dr. Ron? http://reefcentral.com/forums/showth...hreadid=514348

FWIW, none of my really large worms come out during day time,I mean I can see a head stick out of the hole in the rock now and than but not the whole bodies.
Even at night time I do not see them all that often, I suppose the "smell" of dead/dying snail made them to be brave and venture out.
Like I told you before, I didn't believe that your dottyback wiped out your worms, he just made them aware of the presence of predator and they "hit the mattresses"
And, no, I didn't see your thread as I wasn't in his forum today at all.
Kind regards,
Gene.

Gene,
Thanks for resizing the pics. I was beginning to feel like I was watching a tennis match trying to read the copy. :eek3:
Here is the picture I posted more than a year ago of one of my 7" long Eurythoe complanata out and about in the daytime. They stopped doing that after I bought my orchid dottyback.![]()
