Tiger jawfish

I was at my LFS yesterday, and happened to see a fish I have never seen. I am a huge fan of gobies, jawfish, and blennies. I was even one of the dummies that paid 100 dollars for a blue spotted jawfish years ago, but hey, he was cool. I have never seen or heard of a tiger jawfish before, but I liked it. Any positives or negatives to them? Thanks in advance!

They are very cool but difficult to get feeding and seem to get thin very quickly. Be sure to provide a high protien diet and lots of reef rubble for them to build with. They open their mouth very wide when threatened but seldom bite. Make sure it is eating at the LFS before buying. They are diggers so make sure your rockwork is stable and won't take a tumble.

HTH,
Kevin

We've got one and he's our favorite. Tons of personality - he even has moved frags to decorate his 'doorway'. I've seen him grab hermits that have wandered into his den and drag and spit 'em out away from his den - and I've seen him grab some poor hermit wandering past by the shell and add him to his decorating. I've got a 210g with lots of rock and he seems to like to move around a lot - he builds a new den about every other day in different parts of the tank.

He has a voracious appetite and always watches anxiously to see if I'm going to feed him. Don't know if they're all like that, but he ate great from the time he went into our tank. Had him about 6 months now. From my experience, can't recommend them enough. Exteremely cool.

HTH,

Thanks for the input. I think I'm going to get him tomorrow. I just cant' seem to resist a fish with personality. I saw this one eat today. He's about 3.5" long and has great color. I think he will be a good addition
