I have two clown fish (Percula Clowns) that have started turning black??![]()
Is this normal? It's like the black is blending with their orange.

Yes, it can be normal. The amount of black on Amphiprion percula is variable from just a heavy black edging on the white bars to all black with just the white of the bars and virtually no orange at all. Plus anything in between.

Does the orange eventually come back?
No. If the orange turns to black, that's the final coloration phase unless this is one of those darkenings that are caused by association with a particular host anemone, which I don't believe is the case here.Originally Posted by conda

I have a bubble tip anemone, but I have yet to see them in it.
The BTA (Entacmaea quadricolor) will not cause changes in the coloration of the clownfish that associate with it.Originally Posted by conda
Entacmaea quadricolor is not a natural host for Amphiprion percula and it is usually rejected by that species in captivity.

Whats a good Anemone to host two false perculas? Long tentacle?Originally Posted by Ninong
No, the long tentacle anemone (Macrodactyla doreensis) is not a natural host for Amphiprion ocellaris and it is usually rejected in captivity.Originally Posted by Spick
Its only natural hosts are Heteractis magnifica, Stichodactyla gigantea and S. mertensii. In captivity, but not in nature, it usually accepts S. haddoni and Entacmaea quadricolor.

I'm new here but have some good info and looking for info, I have a pair of yellow banded marrons that have been in a long tenacle now for 5 years.
