things are flowing now

I just rebuilt my closed loop, moved the AM3K over to sump return (finally got rid of those POJ Mag pumps) Replaced the AM3K with a Sequence Barracuda, added 3 more intlets, two from the CL and one from the sump return...I feel like the tanks ready to fly away things are going so fast. I figure I'm doing about 6000-7000 gph if you include the two POJ Sieo 820's.

I really like the Barracuda,it uses twice the juice as the AM3k but it puts out a lot more flow, probably close to double what the AM3K does on the smaller pipe.

I don't have to worry about any detritus build up now

Holy macrol Batman and I thought I was moving a bit of water! You know though it's kind of like getting a new bigger tank, over time it'll feel like your not moving enough water. Our 75 gallon is pushing about 4500gph and now it seems like I could use more.

Kevin,
The AM3K was silent, this pump isn't. I'd rate it up there with a med flow 4" fan, if that's any help. If the closet door (the tank is in a closet) is open and the house is very still you can here the pump when you walk in the house. Its one of those things you get used too tho. If the closet door is closed then you don't hear it. The fan I have is a lot louder then the pump.

The flow is rated at 4500 gph at 12 feet of head through 1.5" pipe and the amp draw is about 2.5 (305 watt's) The wattage vary's from 225 to 345. I'm going up about 3 feet with 1.5" to the 1.5" manifold then I reduce down to 1" for the two Sea swirls and 3/4" for the other two lines on each side of the overflow. I'd guess and say I'm doing about 3000+ gph on this closed loop only because this pump handles the pressure better. I'd guess the AM3K was doing about 1800 gph using just the two Sea Swirls.

That is definitely some serious plumbing

I betcha the fish don't even have to swim , just go with the flow!

An extra ball valve?

Hey Mark Nice!

I noticed an extra ball valve like for an auxilary hook up? Is that for w/c's?

If you are referring to the one that looks like it is aimed at you in the 2nd pic I am wondering the same thing. What is it for?

I am just guessing as well, but I think it is for a water change. He shuts off the ball valve below it, turns off the closed loop pump, and possibly drains water out?

Or is there a slight chance that you may have wanted to reduce the suction on the intake side of the closed loop pump and spread it out into two inlets view bulkheads inside the tank?

Looks great Mark
