Need an opinion on Coralline

Hi gang,

when coralline bleaches does it actually die or just lose color? and also when light pink spots start to show on those white "bleached" areas does that mean it may be coming back into action?

I think thats what is happening in my tank but im not sure.

Thanks!

Once it's bleached it's gone basically. The new pink spots you are seeing is probably new spots of coralline starting. They are starting on the old spots because it's easier for the coralline to grow on these rough, porous surfaces opposed to smooth surfaces like glass or acrylic.

thanks michelle,

im 90% over my cyno and green hair algae war thanks to about 40 snails and now that there is bare rock i think the coralline is taking hold. Im also using salifert coralline aminoacid which seems to be helping alot.

I don't want to discount the Salifert product because I don't know anything about it but for coralline algae, the only thing you need is proper calcium and alkalinity levels and of course, some coralline already present that can spread.
