Death of a loved one...

You know the older I get the more I find out that life is a series of ups and downs. My favorite little buddy my Neocirrhites armatus was found on my floor this evening when I went in to feed. Some might say well it's only a fish but he was my fish and my favorite one at that. So much personality in that little guy. I've spent countless hours watching him with awe, his expressions and comical behavior....... Dangit.
I'll go this weekend and scout around a bit maybe I can find something to fill the void along with some eggcrate to eliminate that problem. I doubt I get another of the hawk species until I get a larger reef....maybe it's for the best.

Hey Chuck,

Sorry for your loss, bud. I totally understand how may feel having lost couple of fish over the years. And, you should not worry about us not understanding, who else will but us fish geeks.
I do agree that a larger tank and some eggcrate will go a long way in keeping fish like this.

Sorry to hear about your loss Chuck. It is painful when we lose one of our pets. Sure people look at us crazy when we talk about our fish and how they are our friends but they'll never understand the bond.

Oh man I'm getting way too deep here. I do feel your pain though.

I appreciate it guys. I'm open to suggestions if any of you have another species in mind that would be suitable for my situation.....I'm almost tempted to try and find another very small Premnas biaculeatus. I'm not sure I'm experienced enough to tackle that task though. There isn't a lot of personality there either and that's mainly what I'm looking for. Whatever it is needs to be tough as you know the reputation of the Premnas. There aren't any fish shops close to me when I move to Arkansas either. It'd be best for me to wait until I move to introduce another but I would have to order one online then and I'm not too enthusiastic about that idea.
I'll read a bit today and come up with a few suitable species and run them by you guys before I head down to Raleigh this weekend.

I never read anything in my books about the hawks being jumpers and up until a few days ago I never noticed him at the surface unless he knew I was about to feed him. As I mentioned though the last few days he has been splashing around the surface a bit but I thought he might have seen a small bug or something flying around and was trying to snag it. I should have seen this coming and in the back of my mind I guess I did. Arrrgh and DOH!

Thanks again for understanding.

After further reading I may try another Neocirrhites if I can find one provided I find some eggcrate. If I can't find a hawk I'm looking at some of the smaller dottybacks or possibly a gramma.

Any other ideas come to mind from you guys?

Thanks Spick.....you know I almost feel bad about typing your name out. Where I'm from it's not a nice word.

Anyone have and thoughts on the families of fish I'm considering?

Unhappy

I know how you feel. All my goldfish have exept for one and he's dieing all of them have died in the past 5 days. I went to school all up set because my favorite fish died that morning and everybody that I told just said," He's a fish get over it!" My dad who hates fish expt to eat even seamed upset. I hate those girls. And to make matters worse the science class 8 year old rabbit, that I loved, died this morning.

Spick I'm from Arkansas.

Goldfishees, It'll be alright and I'm sorry for your losses. I'm guessing your classmates don't understand due to a maturity thing which will all change later on. Good luck.

On a happier note I picked up another Neocirrhites armatus today. I browsed around 3 shops and debated numerous species before deciding on another of the same. This one is very small about 1.5". Much smaller than my other one so I'm hoping to get a good long life out of him. Same great personality and flashy looks. I traded some frags for him so it all worked out ok.
