Beautiful fish, Susan! Is that A.polymnus ?

PS. Is it going to be hosting any type of anemone?
    Kind regards,

    Gene.

    Thx Gene:
Yes it is and no he will not be hosting an anemone. I was unable to find him in the marine fish book I have. I was told he did not need one. With your question it got me thinking so I did a quick search.
He seems to be doing just fine, got him 1wk ago.

    Susan,

To be honest, I really don't think that either anemone or the clownfish require each other's presense to remain healthy in captivity. In Nature it would be another story but in aquaria I do not believe it to be necessary. Of course, it does make a good conversation subject... ;)

In case you wondering which anemone is accepted in nature by this particular clownfish, it would be Heteractis crispa and Stichodactyla haddoni.
Dr. D.Fautin also mentions that A.polymnus assocoated with H.crispa anemones are usually entirely black except for those white bars. Yours appears to be that variety and if you would ever consider getting anemone I would definately opt for the H.crispa( sebae anemone).

FWIW, I have that particular anemone that were accepted by my previous clownfish( A.biaculeatus) and is accepted today by A.perideraion which is the proper anemonefish for that anemone as well.

It does look very healthy and has no blemishes of any kind, very full bodied and a face that only mother could love...
    Kind regards,

    Gene.

I really love them, they have a great personality (at least in my reef). Thx for the info. After your post as I mentioned before I did a search to inform myself. I found a mention of an article from R. Shimek in which he stated they would do find in captivity without an anenome. What a relief
