Mixing Blood Shrimp with my Cleaner Shrimp
I am thinking of adding a couple of Blood Shrimp to my tank that already has some cleaner shrimp in it, has anyone else done this or am I asking for fights to break out? Our tank is a 8 foot, 400 gallon so surely there shouldn't be any turf wars but never know, that is why I am asking first.

i dont forsee any problems......the cleaner shrimp is one of the most peaceful shrimps you will find. i recall ninong saying that i could get a pair of cleaners and a pair of the fire shrimp for my tank so....i'd say youre safe
and not to mention your tank size! geesh! the shrimp probibly wont see each other for a few months ![]() Jon |

I have both of them in a tank, and they basically ignore eachother. I have 2 fire shrimp and 3 skunk cleaners. The skunk are more active, but they all get along fine.

Tom,
There are no guarantees in life but I have a 300 gal full of shrimp and they get along just fine. There six cleaner shrimp, two blood shrimp, and about twelve peppermints to go with a coral banded shrimp. Randy |

Thanks for the info guys, over on RC I posted this and someone left a link to Dr Ron's forum where he said that the Blood shrimp will feed on your polyps. So have any of you experienced vanishing polyps that you could maybe lay the blame on the Blood shrimp?

i've never heard something like this but.....stranger things have happened. i know a person that keeps a moray eel w/ 4 cleaner shrimp tons of snails and 2 percula clowns, 2 firefish goby's tons of stuff that would be considered a no-no in reef's and she's never had a single solitary problem w/ her eel in 2yrs. and the tank....its not that big. im sure you already know this but every animal is different. one may pick at polyps the other may not.....its all a matter of luck most of the time.

I've never seen my blood shrip touch any polyps. Have some healthy green star polyps, and plenty of zoanthids. Both show great growth.

No! Don’t do it! It’ll mean the breakdown of the social fabric of society! Cats and Dogs sleeping together! Tangs and Gobies! Mayhem in the reefs! AAARGH! Don’t do it man!….Ooooh. Shrimps. Oh yeah….sorry, thought you meant something else. It should be cool.
