Yellow tangs and Giant Feather Dusters

To follow up on Adam's great post on yellow tangs.... In my 65 gallon reef I have one giant feather duster whose "feathers" are being eaten from the inside out. On one occassion I witnessed the yellow tang nip at the smaller younger part of the feather duster. Do yellow tangs tend to harm feather dusters this way or do I have a bully?? I haven't noticed any of the smaller feather duster that have popped up elsewhere in the tank from being harmed.

Typically, no. The Yellow Tang are considered reef-safe, that is they are not typically observed eating or damaging other invertebrates one would put in a reef aquarium.

I have a yellow tang and a large Hawain featherduster and the only thing the tang does is help keep the featherduster clean by grazing around the tube.
