Too small to frag?

I had a small piece of what I believe is A. plana in my system. My buddy came over and desperately wanted a piece of it. It had encrusted a bit and I figured it was established enough to cut off a tiny piece. Within 2 days the entire piece of mine had lost all tissue. Is there a certain size of a colony that most people recommend fragging? Either it was too small or the the absence of my skimmer at the time are to blame. Argh

I've got it moved for ya.

I don't think there is a minimum criteria set however I wouldn't mess with fragging anything that wasn't 3"+ with multiple branches.

Hard to resist the pleasure of sharing with another reefer but hey, if it's not ready then it's not ready.
